What is Hypnotherapy and how does it work?
Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy
CBH or Hypno-CBT® is a unique “hypnotic-psychotherapy” which integrates hypnosis, cognitive behavioural therapy and mindfulness (de-hypnosis). All which enable the therapist the flexibility in creating highly tailored treatment programmes for their clients.
Some sessions will focus on talking through the issue and steps, some sessions will focus on relaxation or hypnosis. Just like any therapy it is a collaborative process and the more input you give the more you will get out of the sessions. Working together, I will guide you but the work and achievement is all yours.
Specifically in hypnosis, through relaxation, while you keep your mind open and focused I will guide you through positive suggestions that aids your goal. There is no mystery or magic about it, we discuss and agree in your achievable goal and learn and develop coping behaviours, overcome habits and create positive behaviours.
As per the number of sessions this is a relatively short-term approach with the focus on learning strategies and techniques to make positive changes in your Life not only during therapy but also after the therapy has finished.
My goal beside helping you to achieve your goal is to empower you with tools and techniques beyond the therapy sessions regardless of the issue you came to our sessions.
FAQs
… what do I need for the video call?
computer or smart phone
internet/data connection
working video camera (built in the computer/laptop) or external
working microphone and speaker
browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari)
… what will happen when I sign up?
After the introductory call you will receive a few forms to fill in and we will schedule our first video call. This call might be longer than the normal 45-60 minute sessions as we will work out together what your achievable goal is.
Ideally we will have a session in every week, near to the end of the therapy this will increase to 2 weeks or more depending on your situation and need.
… how many sessions will I need?
This really depends on your issue and it will be driven by your need. However, as a baseline, about 6-8 sessions is what expected to ripe results in general. It does not only depend on the complexity of the issue itself but also how much you invest in working on them between the sessions.
CBH or Hypno-CBT® is one of the fast resulting therapy forms.
… will I stuck in hypnosis if we disconnect?
No, there is no scientific evidence that this can occur, just like you naturally wake up every morning without an alarm clock, you will simply come out of hypnosis if our call gets disconnected.
As we want you to be aware of all what is being said you will be in control and actively participating even though your eyes are closed and you are relaxed.
… what are hypnotic suggestions?
Hypnotic suggestion means that you will be experiencing certain helpful ideas at a level profound enough to directly influence our emotions and behaviour.
Psychological and emotional problems can be seen as the result of negative thinking (a sort of “negative self-hypnosis”), whereas hypnotherapy aims to encourage ("suggest") positive ideas (thoughts, images, emotions, behaviours) which lead to improvement.
… will I do things I do not want to?
Absolutely not. You might think about stage hypnosis or things you read in novels or see in movies. Those are very far from hypnosis in a therapeutic settings. You might experience discomfort when talking about issues, just like you would when talking to a friend, but there is nothing you will need to or even requested to do that you do not want to.
All you need to bring with you is your open mind and willingness to work on the issues.
… will I be sleeping during therapy?
It is possible that the relaxation exercise make you doze off, however hypnosis and the therapy works best if you are fully awake and aware of what is happening. For this reason it is best if you are in seated position - unless you have physical issues -, but make it as comfortable as possible.
… does this therapy work online?
Absolutely. But the choice is yours to find therapist who is available in person near to you or you chose the comfort of your own home, no commuting, no stress around driving to and from location.
Currently only online therapy is available, if you interested in person therapy, please reach out to discuss.
… can I be hypnotised?
Everyone can experience hypnosis! Just relax, think positively, and imagine the things being suggested.
Hypnosis is definitely not a state of sleep or unconsciousness. 90% of people report being aware of everything that happens, and some relaxation can help but is not essential to hypnosis.

Anxiety and its management
Chronic pain management
Overcoming sleep disorders
Treating psychosomatic or stress-related illnesses
